This was amazing - we bought the tickets months and months ago and it was well worth waiting for - fabulous costumes, set, cast - everything!

Civic Pride Rossendale - we rock!!!

6 Awards in total - yes six! SILVER GILT for Rawtenstall In Bloom - only a few marks off the highest award of Gold! Also winners of the 'Barton Grange Trophy' for BEST NEWCOMER!

Bless him - our Chairman chuffed to bits - and rightly so!

Incredible Edible picnic area

Look what we did yesterday! The old animal enclosure in Whitaker Park is now a lovely IncredibleEdible picnic area with fruit trees and strawberries.

Bloomin' Lovely

Nicola swaps her marigolds for..... marigolds!

Local business owner Nicola Bailey is seen here doing her bit to help Civic Pride clean up around Rawtenstall in preparation for the judging of the RHS 'Britain in Bloom' awards.  As the owner of Bright & Beautiful Rossendale, Nicola provides a bespoke cleaning and housekeeping service to homes in Rawtenstall, Ramsbottom, Bury and surrounding areas but in her spare time she has been applying her cleaning and gardening skills to the wider community with Civic Pride.

Civic Pride is a voluntary organisation committed to clearing litter, tidying grot-spots, planting and maintaining gardens around the Rossendale Valley, and this year for the first time they have entered in the celebrated RHS awards.


Nicola say's "As a company, we pride ourselves on making people's homes look beautiful and it is nice to be able to help do the same for our town.  Civic Pride is a very dedicated group of volunteers who are out in all weathers and I like to do my bit to help when I can so we can keep Rossendale looking it's best."

The great news is Rawtenstall has won through to the final 'in Bloom' awards ceremony in October with a minimum of a bronze award, and several of the individual gardens have been successful in the 'It's Your Neighbourhood' awards scheme. For a first time entry, that's amazing - let's hope Rossendale makes a 'clean sweep' at the awards.

The winner!!!

As I mentioned in an earlier blog, my son has been playing golf competitions all over Lancashire this summer - (the poor car has clocked up quite a few more miles!).  He's been doing really well getting into the prizes but never quite managing the top slot - until Clitheroe!  Well done Sam for first place in the Clitheroe Junior Open

 and we now know that he is top of the nett table for the ELGA Junior Challenge tour - tears and speech at the ready for awards night (my proud tears his speech!).

....and his home club Rossendale Golf club is the overall champion club - well done boys!

His elder brother has been treading the boards again - this time at the Palace Theatre, Manchester in their 'Grease' Stage Experience. 

 He was in the chorus and was a very nerdy teacher - which he did rather well !
